Facility and Property Management Formal

With great success we had our first ever Facility and Property Management Formal. Alumni Students and Faculty all gathered at the BYU Gordon B. Hinckley Alumni Building. It was an elegant venue for an elegant occasion. Formal attire and an excellent formal dinner accentuated the beautiful building. Bryan Jolly our student association president hosted the event. We had several special guests in attendance and the evening was topped off by our keynote speaker Dr. Jeffery Campbell.

After the dinner and program there was dancing and socializing. It was a spectacular event the we hope to be able to do again. Thank you to all who attended and facilitated this great evening for our facility and property management program.

FPM Weekly Seminar Update

We have had great seminars the last two weeks.

The first was presented by Rory Bigelow of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Rory is over seminaries and institutes for most of the western hemisphere. He discussed with us the needs for internal organization standards for international building and FM. We were all impressed by the buildings managed all over the world for the purpose of educating students about the gospel of Jesus Christ.

The second seminar was given by Kent Cammack from the Gust Rosenfeld law firm regarding Real Estate Law. He talked about foreclosures law. It was an eye opener for quite a few of us and a timely topic for this day and age. We take two courses in real estate in our program at BYU and many of our students are members of IREM. In fact the program name was recently changed this past year from facility management to facility and property management. This new emphasis has opened many doors for our students and broadened the success of our program.
